Each year, elementary and middle school students in Frisco ISD can apply to transfer from their home-zoned campus to another Frisco ISD campus that is not closed or at capacity. Starting in the 26-27 academic year, Frisco will open to HS transfers for incoming 9th grades at schools below 90% of projected capacity. Transfers will now be available for K-9th grade. The application window is available annually. All applicants are encouraged to apply early.
The windows for In-District transfers for the 26-27 academic year will be the following dates:
December 1, 2025 - December 12, 2025
February 10, 2026 - February 24, 2026
May 26, 2026 - June 8, 2026
New resident students will also have two weeks following enrollment to apply for an in-district transfer.
All students within Frisco ISD will be limited to one transfer request per grade level (elementary and middle school). Please note that all transfer period deadlines are strictly enforced.
Once an In-District transfer has been approved, a student in good standing may remain at the assigned campus for the duration of the grade levels available at that campus. In-District transfers are a privilege; learn about District-initiated transfer withdrawals.
Important:
If your student is already on an approved transfer and remains in good standing, you do not need to submit a new transfer request each year.
Only submit a new transfer request if your student is changing campuses for a new grade level (for example, elementary to middle school or middle to high school).
This same rule applies to staff members - please do not reapply unless your circumstances have changed and you are no longer employed by FISD.
In-District transfer requests will be accepted and approved until the selected campus reaches capacity or the window closes The campuses listed below are currently below 90% capacity and are available for campus transfers.
Elementary Campuses
Middle School Campuses
High School Campuses (9th Grade Only)
Parent Portal: To submit a student transfer request the student must be registered and have a Student ID with Frisco ISD and the parent/guardian must have created their Portal account. Log into the portal, search for the "Student Transfers" tile.

Portal information, instructions and support is available.
No summer transfer window: Historically, Frisco ISD has offered a summer transfer option; however, to help principals better prepare for the coming year, the summer transfer window is no longer available.
All families must verify residency and enter into a written transfer agreement before each school year.
Students in grades K-4 and 6-7 approved for student transfers may stay at their current school until they complete the highest grade offered at that campus, subject to their residence remaining within Frisco ISD boundaries.
Students in grades 5 and 8 transitioning to a new campus for the next school year will need to follow the usual transfer request procedures and may need to reapply if they are not attending the same campus as they are attending now.
Students who require centralized special education services will receive notification of their campus assignment for the next school year from the special education department in December and will have the opportunity to apply for a transfer at that time.
Parents whose In-District transfer requests are approved will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the campus unless a student’s individualized education plan (IEP) includes special transportation.
Transfer students must be transported to and from their assigned campus and/or activities on time.
Requesting and accepting a transfer constitutes a parent’s assurance that safe and timely transportation will be provided to and from the approved campus.
A transfer may be revoked if the parent does not provide safe and timely transportation.
